Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial screening (including a plagiarism check using Similarity Check, a service provided by Crossref and powered by iThenticate) from the editorial board before entering the double-blind review process.

Those manuscripts deemed suitable for peer review are passed to at least 2 expert referees for review. Reviewers are matched to the paper according to their expertise in the field.

Reviewers are asked to evaluate a manuscript for:

  1. Originality and significance of contribution - contribution to existing knowledge;
  2. Appropriateness of Abstract as a description of the paper;
  3. Adequacy of the literature review;
  4. Organization and readability;
  5. Soundness of methodology, analysis, and interpretation;
  6. Evidence supports conclusions.

Reviewers are asked to provide anonymous comments to the author, and they have the possibility to provide confidential comments to the editor.

We are committed to ensuring that the peer-review process is as robust and ethical as possible. Please read the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for peer reviewers before completing your review.

Web of Science Reviewer Recognition Service

A reviewer’s input to the editorial process is invaluable, and along with the authors, we greatly value this volunteer contribution to the peer-review process.

To offer recognition for your peer review work for the Scientific Annals of Economics and Business, we implemented Web of Science Reviewer Recognition Service (formerly Publons). We recommend you create a reviewer profile with Web of ScienceWeb of Science Reviewer Recognition Service records your reviewer activity and ensures that you get credit each time you complete a peer review, without compromising reviewer anonymity.

All review comments remain confidential; the content of reviews for SAEB will not be publicly displayed on Web of Science, and only the year of the review and the journal title will be shown on reviewer profiles.

For more information about how the partnership works, see the SAEB-Publons landing page.

The Journal maintains a rapid electronic submission, review, and publication process. On average, the double-blind review process (from submission to first editor decision) takes around 12 weeks, and from acceptance to appearance online (Early bird section), around 2-4 weeks.
